The Distinction That Matters

Two federal programs. Very different eligible spending.

Both programs come from the Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Act of 2018 — but they fund different things, and confusing the two is the most common reason a strong application gets the wrong budget attached.

COPS SVPP

Funds physical security: cameras, access control, lighting, locks, and law-enforcement coordination technology. Does not fund training programs.

BJA STOP Program — fits PressureSim

Funds training school personnel to prevent violence, threat assessment and intervention teams, and specialized training for responding to crises — exactly the category PressureSimSystems™ operates in.

Timing

Know the window before you write the proposal.

The BJA STOP School Violence Program typically opens its application window in the fall, with Grants.gov and JustGrants deadlines following in sequence a few weeks apart. Districts that start scoping their program and vendor partnerships before the solicitation opens — rather than after — consistently submit stronger applications.
